I was recently listening to an audiobook that helped me reflect on my past successes and my business plans for the future. I hope these thoughts will also help you.
I was reminded that I have worked hard to ensure I am useful in any project, situation, or life. I don’t want to have any regrets, yet I always think of things I could have done differently and perhaps better.
The Lesson I speak of is one of always searching for strategies, methods, and actions that are useful to those around you. Everything from holding a door open for someone, the work you do in your profession or career, to my specialty of showing property owners how to use their financial/real estate resources best to make a better life for themselves and those they love. What a range.
I look back and see that this quality was instilled in me by my parents and what I would now call mentors, who back then were teachers. Teachers in school, my past positions, and people I have met.
This lesson has served me well in the past and continues to serve me well now. The only other thing I have learned about this lesson is that I personally don’t always have to have the answer. There are many others out there with the same philosophy that have always worked to make things better. You can probably think of a few folks right off the top of your head who operate this way.
Please consider sharing this idea with others—especially children or younger folks who are looking for direction. Let them know that they generally can’t go wrong if they focus on how they can be useful to anyone and everyone. It may lead them to some very interesting places.
