Super Bowl and Selling Your Property(s)

Well, I guess I can get on the Super Bowl Bandwagon.  Especially since I live in the Kansas City Area and the CHIEFS just won their 3rd Super Bowl Title.

I am going to be a little philosophical about using this as a jump point to Selling Your Property.  The two main points are:

  1. There are as many ways to win or lose the Super Bowl as there are in selling your property.
  1. It is never over until it is over.  You can ask either team and they will tell you how they possibly could have done it differently which is why you must stay in it until it is over.

First, there are as many ways to sell or not sell a property as there are to win or lose the Super Bowl.

  1. Not priced to sell.  You need to know the market.  This can be done by hiring a professional or doing some research on the Internet for homes similar to yours that have sold recently (best to use sales in the last 90 days).
  2. Not willing to repair items found in an inspection which will allow the sale to happen.
  3. Not having a good coach/agent/consultant to help guide you through the process to end up a winner.

Secondly, it is never over until it is over.

  1. Selling a home is a process.  There are certain rules you need to follow just like a football team has to follow the rules.  Not following them will cause you to be penalized. For example, not taking the market values into consideration will cause you to hold the property longer and cost you more to carry it compared to selling and moving forward with your next plan.
  2. Be sure you want to sell.  Although there may be life changes, ensure that when you are prepared to sell your property to also be prepared for delays that will make you question your decisions.  This type of thinking is normal but stay the course.  Just like the Kansas City Chiefs continued to fight to the very end, you must be prepared to adjust and consider every option on selling your home and completing your selling and moving plans.

The biggest reminder of watching these two teams compete is that neither side did it alone.  They have coaches, trainers and support staff.  You selling your property(s) should have a support team.  Your team could be family, friends, and/or professionals so please build your team and you will find that you will be as successful as any professional team in reaching your goal in selling your property.
